Marquee/Selection Tools in Clip Studio Paint

professorfaf:

One of my friends is pretty new to digital drawing in general and wanted some more guides about the basic tools, like how to use the Marquee tools. There’s some tools and settings in here that are unique to CSP so even if you’re using these tools every day already, you may find something new for you in this guide! For example, learning how to keep a selection, but make the marching ants line disappear temporarily so you can see what you’re doing. Read more below the cut to get the rundown on what these tools do.

Once upon a time I worked in this little burger/coffee/ice cream shop and a lady came in one winter and asked if we had a caramel apple drink and we were like ‘well we have cider’ and she was like ‘no I don’t remember what it’s called but this place made a drink that was chai tea, apple cider, and caramel’ and Breezy offered to try and make something for her but she changed her mind and left so Breezy and I were like ‘alright let’s try this’ because we had chai tea, instant cider mix, a shit ton of caramel, instant hot water from the espresso and too much free time.

And let me tell you it was delightful. It tastes like watching the leaves changing color and dancing in the wind. It tastes like picking out pumpkins and gourds and fresh apples at the farm up north. It tastes like witches and freedom.

I make it every year now and this year I walked in the house on the morning of October first with all the ingredients and shouted ‘FALL DRINK’ and my roommates were like ‘????’ so I made them Fall Drink and now every time they get home from work they’re like ‘Fall Drink pls?????’

Anyway I remember literally nothing else about that woman but I’m very grateful to her.

for anyone wondering about proportions/etc here’s op’s answer from the repiles:

college professor just said “you’re probably too young to even remember this” and brought up something that happened in 2011

Better than my professer that said we’d “probably recognize this from Saturday morning cartoons” then showed us a cartoon from 1935…

Clip Studio Paint and CMYK? Yes!

professorfaf:

I’ve seen a lot of misinformation out there that CSP can’t work in CMYK. That’s incorrect. If you’re making an illustration for print, you’ll want to see what your illustration looks like in CMYK first. Some colors that look great in RGB just wash out and look bad in CMYK, and this will help you see what’s going on.

Creating a New Comic File

professorfaf:

Creating a comic page file is a different kettle of fish than just making an illustration one. I hope that you’ve reviewed my post on Creating a New Illustration File because some of the tips I explained more thoroughly there will be glossed over here (otherwise this post would be too long). I did want to get guides on creating an illustration file and a comic file out of the way early though, because setting up your files how you need them to start will save you so many headaches further down the road.

Let’s go!
